530 front sprocket blues

As I have converted my Z1000J special over from 630 to 530 drive, I still need a front sprocket (18 tooth) and a chain, which I intend to get from Stafford this Saturday.
Can anyone please confirm the following:

Off what model bike will suit the 530 sprocket I need (i.e. 1992 Kawasaki EN500)
How many links do I need in the 530 chain to suit 38 tooth rear sprocket and 18 tooth front sprocket

I have searched this site until I'm blue in the face, and can't find anything where it says "Kawasaki EN500 18t front sprocket" or whatever model may fit.
Sure there's loads saying Debben or Talon do them, but what model Kawasaki has the same on?

I've sussed it out myself...

18 tooth front sprocket and 38 tooth rear sprocket is about right for most applications.

These are the dimensions for the standard 630 sprocket:


and these are the dimensions for the 530 sprocket (JTF517).
It should be noted that there is no offset on the 530 sprocket. However, with the thinner chain I'm hoping the chain will clear the engine.

I'm using a 120/17 on the front and a 150/18 on the rear.
I've got the rear sprocket running as close as absolutely possible to the swingarm, so I'm hoping when I pop the wheel in tomorrow night, it will clear the swingarm.
As for clearing the engine without an offset, I'll have to wait until I get a 530 sprocket. It may be that a flat sprocket will be no good, and if that's the case then I will have to approach Debbens or similar for an offset 530 sprocket to fit the 'J' derived engine, which is different to the Z1 derived engines.
I'll update my thread in the projects area with my findings... good or bad!

I have just fitted a 3/8 offset 17t 530 front sprocket to go with a 46t rear as recommended by Al and Ray Debben for a J running 17inch wheels. The standard sprocket ran the chain too close to the tyre the 5/8 too close to the frame.

If you do need some offset this may help,

One or my 1100b2`s has zx10 wheels (tyre width 160) and I used a zx10 front sprocket .

for dimensions look on jt sprockets website for JTF527


My other b2 has a 180 tyre and uses an eary model zzr1100 sprocket
that has a bit more offset, -- JTF528

Both these are only up to 17 teeth though so you would have to go up to about 45teeth on the rear.

Will, as in my pm I ended up with a 45t rear & I think an 18t front on 17" wheels & to be honest is was still a little over geared, Padders's 17/46 sounds good, even for 18" wheels.

If you start 'big' & work down, at least you can keep shortening the chain.

If you go on the JT site put your bike in it will show the standard sprocket and the ratio's at the bottom is you can check if you change the sprockets you don't get them too far out. let me know what the back wheel is and I will look for the correct sprocket for you as I have a JT sprocket book
