GPZ1100 UNI Fork Service - Help Please

#1 PostAuthor: LTD Project » Mon Jun 10, 2013 6:19 pm

Just had the forks off the bike and apart to replace fork seals. The job is straight forward and went fairly well. Though two things came up.

1. Not until I got the springs in and fork top caps on did I spot a wee note in the manual stating that if the springs have more closely wound coils at one end than the other that the closely wound coils should be at the top. Doh! I just put them in the other way up

Does this really matter?

2. I cant find anywhere in any manual that states what to do with the fork top caps. Do you just screw them in as far as they will go? Is there a distance they have to go into? No torque setting mentioned.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks

don't know if putting the springs in upside down would make any difference I would not worry as you struggle to make if handle any worse  than standard. the caps screw in until they bottom out
