About GPZ1100 cams

#1 PostAuthor: RC900 » Fri May 17, 2013 9:58 pm

Hi Folks!

I've seen cams of aircooled GPZ 1100 for sale on ebay now an then, but I could not find the information about the cams from anywhere, mostly because of my poor English skills... So I would like to know which year GPZ 1100 has the most radical cams to set to old Z1 (with GPZ head on it already). Someone has told me that since 1983 all the GPZ1100 cams has a higher lift and degrees than before that, but some other guy told the years are 1984-1985 only.
Does somebody really know how these things are going?
I have some race cams which could be used for my project, but I do not really want to use the shim-under tappet modifications or make more room for cams to the head, it goes a bit too extreme for me... Perhaps I'm just too lazy :|

The GPZ1100 unitrack 83 onwards had the highest lift cams.
They also had the under bucket shims because of this (kawasaki being cautious)
You will need adaptor sprockets from APE as i'm sure you already know.
You should be safe running them with shim over and would be very unlucky to spit a shim.
