canna get the horn.

#1 PostAuthor: stevie g » Tue Apr 02, 2013 1:24 pm

Hi Guys, I'm near finished the wiring on my CSR1000 except one or two things. Firstly can't seem to get the horn to work. Next thing is there are two wires under the seat which don't seem to go anywhere, one is white with thin blue stripe which seems to be dead and other is red with thin white stripe, live all the time. thought one might have been for turn signal alarm and other for a fuel check switch, whatever that is. I looked on partzilla and that switch is missing from my bilke. Also in the headlamp shell I have two thin blue wires, one double yellow with thin black stripe, one double white with thin blue stripe. There doesn't seem to be anywhere for them to go and as I have all the correct clocks, ignition etc I'm baffled. Anyone got any ideas please, thanks $tevie. PS anyone know where I can download a colour wiring diagram ??

Have you tried Viagra. I am not that good on wiring, but I do know that the earth connection (which is the handle bars) on some of the switch gear - is poor and in the past I have ended up soldering an extra piece of wire to ensure a good earth when clamping on the handle bars.

Yea I have funnily enough. OK I'll give that a try tomorrow. It's just so weird that everything else works OK, but didn't think of that. As for the extra wires, I think the two under the seat, or at least one of them must be for that fuel switch thing, but I'm baffled by the ones in the headlamp shell. Everything is working, indicators, pilot lights, front stop light, even the fuel gauge. Thing is there's no other wires of any colour to stick them into. Could they be auxiliary ?? like for spots or something. Anyone on here have a CSR they could have a look for me ? $

OK took off the switchgear and cleaned everything up. It was trying to beep but very faint. So I put wires direct from the battery to the horn and it worked good once then stopped. Then it wouldn't go at all so I got another horn, connected it up properly and it works good. So it looks like the horn was on it's way out. So that's all my wiring sorted. on this model the handlebars are not the earth as the horn will work with the switchgear undone from the bars. I'm still puzzled by the spare wires in the headlamp shell though. $

Managed to get a colour wiring diagram off KZrider.com and I looked up these spare wires I was on about. They're just spare. $
