Engine no...what's this now...?

#1 PostAuthor: kwaksbass » Tue Oct 02, 2012 7:22 pm

Hello all...

Just joined a month ago, waiting for my winther project...a KZ1000R(2) or so i should think...

When i first looked at it, it looked fine enough ( for it's age), started and ran, checked frame no: KZT00R002(XXX), so ok i thought - but the plot thickens...

I came home with the greenie meanie and checked the engine no...and yes, i only checked the frame no: when i picked it uproll:

It said, or rather read: KZT10BE017(XXX). After at bit of detective work i found out that frame is ok for a Euro version R2.
Engine is a different matter: If the no had been fx. KZT10BE025XXX or higher, it would mean that the engine was replaced for a Z1100, but my engine no: is not that high...only 017XXX
Hmm...i tried searching the web for more info and this forum, but no luck...

Can anybody help me with finding out what is right or wrong here? It would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Jon

Hey mates...

Yep - tried those...no luck

Z1Bman - i thought so too, but the engine no. is much lower than those of the 1100...dunno :|

I'll get back with more info - writing to a danish enthusiast who might know...

Cheers and thanks

I agree.

B2 numbers start from KZT10BE-010401

Unitrac numbers start at KZT10BE-019301

But I could always ...

look at the right page...

Sorry guys...

If i look under the GPz data, the number matches with a b2 GPz1100...
I don't quite know what to think of that - bigger engine is 9/10 a +, but i wanted it original and it's not...well...

Cheers mates, and thanks alot

Jon

This is almost absurd...

This picture is a spitting image of my own - same decals ect, but mine has a 4-1 kerker...

except that when you search google with this "Z1100B2 pics" and find the above picture, is says ...yes...Z1100B2...

I'm right now about every minut or so, reminded of how little i know of this bike and it's history(overall, not mine specificly)

Cheers, Jon

Whoops - didn't mean to put the 1100 down - just that i'd rather have a 1000 when the bike is a 1000...

More angry with my self for not checking the essentials
Oh well - decided to refurb the 1100 engine and take the rest of the bike apart as planned. Engine runs good, so no need for taking that apart.
It will all be good :D

Thanks again and have a nice evening...

Cheers, Jon
