Piggy - you need harder skin!

Davy - Have you taken the baffles out of the others? If not it may be that the packing is only left at the end bit as it may have burnt out of the rest of the silencer. Personally for the cost I would buy the stuff in and if it isn't needed at the moment it will keep. If you want it to last really well put stainless wire wool over the baffle tube and then wrap the glass around it.

Tie it in place with some stainless steel 'lock wire' or similar.
Builder merchants should sell Reinforcement Tie Wire if needed, or nick some from your friendly 'Bob the builder' (Mick) :?:
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Heres a few pic's, The one with the packing is a 72 with it's original packing. see there is no nut welded to the side as in the later one's the early were rivited in place.

Replace the exhausts as well while you're at it Davy. I'm sure you could get a nice stainless 4-1 instead of them old rusty things

Was just wondering what exactly the wodding does and why not run them without it. Someone once said it was only used to run the bike in, it was later removed, though i could never see the reason for removing it. I have just fitted some new baffles(i made myself) to me standard pipes. The ones that came out didnt have anything on them so i never put any back with the new baffles.
I have just made some out off stainless so they wont rot,
Just a thought if anyone wants a new baffle i can make them either with or without the vertical bar. They are an exact copy.
