Some more pic's in Quest to resolve my mudguard/light problem, Had bracket from Mikey (first pic) today but it doesn't work with my mudguard it's straight, would need to be angled but taller than the one fitted to my bike, see picture), Think mudguard is wrong ???. or both ???..

Height Level with top nut on light and frame (light points down).

Is a short guard more of a rightangle?, mine seems to be flared out.

Seems to be a gap when viewed side on, could it be bent?..

On a happier note..........

Ahh looks as if I have finally sorted the photo posting bit !
I checked the "raised" section of the mudgaurd where it bolts to the frame tube and it is 5".
The mudgaurd in the photo is an original US spec one and the light unit has never been removed from it so if the light bracket on your mudgaurd doesnt match up with this one then that could well be the problem .
as per PM you are welcome to borrow the light bracket as a pattern to get one to match up.

If you are looking for a MOT test for Saturday then give Fairfield Garage in Port talbot a ring, the guy there who does the testing is fair and he knows his older type bikes. same sort of pass rate as Pritchards
