thats what i meant Rich,i would stuff the mincing about and get a tap.as its still no mean feat hacking an M3 thread and getting a fastner long enough,as i would find it easier on a larger thread size :)

go for a nice old plug (bottom) tap so it won't remove any metal and will go to the bottom of the thread.

Remind me to do you a 3mm screw if I go to Skeggy!
