Hi, into the clocks I get 12.2v and across wires I get 8.2 v .
I also checked the coils ( in series as I have an 8 plug head) 11.9v into coils ans 7.8 v going into second coil, borh sides similar. The loom that joins the pair of coils gets very hot as well

Sounds like the coils could be wired up differently!
As an aside; do you have one coil per cylinder WRT to HT leads or have you split the twin outlets between pairs of cylinders?
Battery voltage seems a little low but the fact that the alternator puts out +14 volts suggests that the rotor / stator combo and the regulator / rectifier are both intact.
AL (dangerous with a multimeter)

Hi Al, the coils wired up according to the Dynatek wireing diagram for 4 coils, in fact it has an extra 12v lead going to it because of the Dyna ignition. The coils go to different cylinders, the same as standard coils.
When I checked the voltage to the clock, I remember one reading being lower than the rest but I did nt record it.
I will buy a new battery Motoblat seems favourite at the moment and try all the tests again

That's what my wiring diagram looks like without the Dyna 2000 box.
The Dyna s has four wires the two red ones go into the loom and the green and black(I think) go to the coils. I then have a switched 12v from the connection near the battery and two of the original coil wires going to the coils. The pairs of coils are then linked together with a loom.
The fault I have did become more noticable at Donnington, but it could have been showing similar symptoms before, although I put that down to stroppy carbs. Which could indicate a duff coil or the battery voltage becoming too low, Al worked out that the battery wasnt charging too well, so I have replaced the Stator and that side of things look okay now.
I have ordered a new battery as 11.8v at rest doesnt seem enough especiall when my GPZ is well into the 12v at rest.
I will check everything again when I get the new battery
Cheers Rob
