That takes me back it was the first brand new bike I had and the same colour too, I loved that bike, it may not have been the quickest 250 but it was certainly the best, unless it was lashing down.

I had a brand new 400 triple in 1979.
It is a completely different animal to the 250 and will eat it for breakfast.

The 350 is supposed to be faster but I am not so keen on the 350 styling.
I suppose if all you wanted was speed you'd be buying the Yamaha 400.
But I agree with kas750 - all triples are worth restoring
Sometimes ......I wish I still had mine!

nice one mate, you will have loads of fun with that, had a b3 band new at 17, just sold me 73 h2a 750 last summer, and really missing it,
performance wise, fit s1 needle jets & jet needles, 90 something main jets, cut baffle down to first plate in baffle tube, bin air cleaner element, fit 16 tooth motor sprocket, 100 mph no problem!
have fun!

yep 500 and 750 now use wisecos which are expensive. There are pistons now available for the 400's which are believed to be suzuki rm pistons which use a different size wrist pin.Pistons for the 350's are virtually unobtainable.Pistons for the 250's are for nowt. How about 60 quid for a set of three with rings and pins.

Small update on the KH,the bike is nearly stripped down now,we removed the engine over the weekend (thanks Kerrigan) and I have been busy cleaning and checking bits out. Next stage will be to strip and prepare the painted bits and sort out the Chroming, vapour blasting and zincing, all good stuff.

A great find Steve.I hope the rebuild goes well it looks like everything is there.
I kept hold of quite a few 250 parts thinking we might get one,one day but something had to go to pay for the KR1s rebuild so I sold most of the bits on ebay.So I've stopped looking,I'll keep an eye on yours tho :)

Well a little update on the Kh project, one things for certain you have to be organised as you can end up with bits all over the place, but i have to say it is all good fun and very satisfying though some of the jobs can be quite tedious at times.
I now have a couple of storage boxes full of restored parts packed away ready for the rebuild (whenever that will be) but each part cleaned and packed away is one less part to do and Buy.
No major dramas at the moment but lots of rust pitting and grime to get rid off

A lot of the wiring was disconnected on the bike when it arrived so I have cleaned and labelled the loom up from the wiring diagram.
