oh dear,what have you done, 
just kidding, you set the timing on the cams and the crank,and then you put the top camchain wheel on top,then you put a bit of tention on the camchain with the tentioner ,sited on the back of the barrels ,then you can turn the engine backwards and forwards all will be ok.it sounds like you havent tightened the tentioner up.
