After making the rounded ignition stone guard i've decided that the blanking plate for the original points location looked a bit pants and needed something else
So i removed the turned center which was just a press fit and welded it in to a later points cover which had enough meat on to allow a matching profile to be shaped on it
Think that a big improvement and it actually matches the stone guard now.

You are such a B*****d.... that looks sooooooo damned lush
The Trumpet battery is fitted under the seat, which is bolted on, and it's tucked behind me Z1000 with the EFFER in front of that at the moment
SO, what I'm trying to say is I'm a lazy git and can't be arsed to move it all around, which involves chucking a couple of bikes out in the rain.......
....but from memory its about 5" wide x 3" tall x 1 1/2" thk

That battery looks perfect, Just discovered there's a Maplins opened up in town so will soon be popping in to make a purchase.

Finally sourced a matching 5.5 inch rim from a Z750 to replace the ZX10R's 6 inch which i used for the dry build and is too wide to get correct chain alignment whilst keeping the wheel central.
It took three attempts to find one that was straight (bloody time wasting ebay con artists) which left me an extra £30 out of pocket as i couldn't get my return postage refunded for the wonky two i sent back
It came bare and i'd hoped the zx10's disc etc would fit.
No chance!
so back to ebay to buy a disc which on arrival i find it is 30mm larger in diameter and my modified R1 caliper and hanger are useless 
Back to ebay for a z750 caliper bracket and a small stroke of luck as kawasaki have kindly changed the brake caliper mount design to take the same nissin as the R1 so all is not lost
It's a fair old lump so all the shaded areas need removing before i use it.
Just as things are looking up there's another kick in the balls as the 750 wheels hub is nowhere near the same as the 10s and is suprisingly wider and offset to the right so i'll have to start from scratch and make all new wheel spacers etc.
This is the point i shut the shed door and went to the pub before i chucked the whole lot in the nearest ditch

The most annoying thing with the wheels was the fact that i actually got in contact with the sellers and SPOKE to them over the phone to confirm that the wheels were perfectly straight etc .
It's absolutely gobsmacking that they still sent me scrap ( a very wobbly 5mm sideways and 6mm radial runout/ovality on the worst ) and this is so called reputable bike breakers i'm dealing with here and not just some Joe bloggs clearing his shed.

You could try him, he is a perfectionist and used to build TZ's and other race bikes for people in his day. Brilliant guy just does a few days a week now doing wheels, but like you Rob is a proper engineer.
(Be warned he can be a bit grumpy and I think tues wed thurs are the days he is around)
