Master cylinder overhaul

Chances are another model motorcycle uses the exact same part... the plastic piece was real common on a number of bikes, CB750F2 rings a bell.
And yes it is held in buy the plate and two screws, if your wasn't then someone else did not put them back in.

I have completely dismantled the cylinder now and can`t believe after all the worry just how easy it was to remove the plate at the bottom.
The good news is that everything is in first class condition. Even the O ring is as fresh as a daisy. The metal plate and screws are corrosion free and the seals and bore are unmarked. Naturally I will put in a new seal set as the boot split on disassembly and there is some corrosion to the circlip and retaining plate on the lever side of the assembly.
I will investigate the anodising process today and hopefully get that off soon.

Just got the bits back from Mark and I have to say the results are excellent.
One word of caution though is that they are so smooth they will slip out of your hands as easy as anything.
Total cost including postage to Mark has been £130. I got him to fit a new rebuild kit as I didn`t see the point in doing it myself when he already had the bits and is more experienced than me.
I got Mikey to zinc the other bits and was well pleased with his work.
Bearing in mind there were parts to be BZP, gold passivate and chrome plate.
It took no time at all to whack the parts together and I was fortunate that the O ring was in excellent condition. Also Mark explained that the anodising process can destroy the bore if there is any corrosion at all in there. Luckily mine was good, in fact one of the best he had seen
So there we have it. One more item to complete my "imposter" to UK spec.
Just need Graham to point out the next item when we meet again

I have to eat humble pie on this one! great job.
A fair while back GBH was talking about another similar process on this forum.... He said he was pursuing it .... must have drawn a blank.

G'Day Garn! Actually you are correct, I have tried to get a few cast alloy zed parts anodized but no luck, most guys only what to do billet parts. I guess they have been burned by people who dont accept the end result when it turns out bad....

No blanks Garn,...I found a place that will reproduce the original aluminite finish. Unfortunately it was simply too costly. Considering the finish will be as "durable" as the original, TLC's powder coated items would probably be a better option, they certainly look nice!

Thanks for the feedback on aluminite finish, George.
Another member "ToyCollector" from, across the bay, New Zealand, has mentioned success with anodizing. I may pursue that avenue to have a master cylinder done. Perhaps he would, again, like to comment on his results (I can't seem to find that posting).

?????They are black anodised George !
But I agree expensiveMakes the NOS cylinder another member is selling for over £200 seem like a realistic price
Sorry, my mistake. Anyway, the parts look nice and I'm pretty sure they'll outlast the original finish.
I didn't go ahead with having mine redone as the cost at the time was around $120 USD equivalent for one master cylinder and junction....too expensive as I was going to have 3 sets done but knew that I couldn't hope to sell on and get my money back.
Now I have several rebuilt sets sitting on a shelf if ever I need them....though they aren't pretty.
