Brian, your bike is amazing!!
Can you please tell me aboout your fork spacers?
Do you prefer the bike higher off the ground, or are you raising the bike for proper ground clearance?
I plan to modify my own 78 1000 and may buy forks this week!
Thank you. Chad.[/img]

Tracktime,
Measure before you buy,
Most USD Forks are to short
STD 1000 Forks are 31.5 inches
Most USD Forks are much shorter zx7r are about 28" so when you go from 19" wheel to 17" and include the drop in fork length you are in trouble.
ZX9RB Models are a bit longer, and apparently some Yamaha ones are to, and early gsxr's.
If you dont want USD forks its easier to use modern stuff ZRX 11OO forks are 30.5 inch and you can fit the Yokes with just a change of bearings.
ZZR1100 Forks are about the same but their tope yoke is offset so you can recover a bit of height.
Saying that good suspension companies like MAXTON will lengthen and set the forks up for the weight of rider and bike, but it costs about £400-500 GBP.
Hope this helps.

Fork info.
Thank you gentlemen... This is all very helpful.
I was affraid of that. I plan to improve this bike correctly. I am thinking about zrx shocks and zx9 or new z1000 forks. Klasmos offers a swing arm for the zx9 rear wheel and I may go that route.
This bike has been a daily rider for 14 months now.
I plan to ride with my girlfriend on the back as well.
I am not looking to take down a Hayabusa or win a bike show.
I do plan to correctly modify this bike and not have to compromise later on.
Anyway, I am sincere and plan to buy forks this week.
I hope that I have not hijacked your thread Brian.
Do you think I should start a new thread and ask for help?
