The reg number wasn't LRP xxxP was it ?

According to the powers that be on the aircooled RD site the purple was only a yankee colour, mine was first registered in the UK in october 75, I can't see someone importing an A model in when the B model was just out, but then again I was only 7 at the time lol

I'm virtually certain mine was a UK bike and I've seen a few others the same colour over the years. Registration was JCW97N registered in Feb 75.
That registration relates to Chorley/Wigan area of Lancs when new.

I bought it from a bloke in Warrington who'd just upgraded to a CB750K single cam.
I owned it from August 1981 till August 1985 and changed lots of bits on it apart from the colour.

Last registered keeper of mine was in Bradford, I just hope it enjoys it's life of semi retirement over here lol

It will all go back to standard with the exception of a 'B' model gear selector drum to make it a 6 speeder.
I'm still undecided on whether to fit the spannies or not, if I do that I could open myself up to going the whole retro tuned route

Mine came in stock trim with standard silencers and air filter box that was a horrible rusty mess. I struggled to get more than about 35 -40 mpg.
After the major re-build (stripped to frame etc), I fitted Centron spannies (anyone else remember them ??), K&Ns and Boyesen reeds..............it sorted out the breathing and never did less than 50mpg, shows how restrictive the standard set up was. :D :D

This one isn't bad at all, some monkey has been at the centre stand lugs with a grinder and I've had to get another oil tank as the original one had a dent in it but apart from that a lick of paint and a bit of chrome here and then it should (fingers crossed) be an easy job.....I certainly prefer the prices of RD spares, a complete gasket and oil seal set for 50 notes !....you don't get that with a Zed that's for sure lol

Was yours the wine red or purple ?, all I seem to find listed for A's is the wine red...most odd

I had one too back in the '80's, same colour. Certain that mine was a UK bike. Reg no was BRF 95M.
May still have some pics, will take a look.

This is definitely 'helmet purple', although the log book say "brown/black", but then again if Kawasaki can call 'burst pile brown' red then who's to argue lol
