Here you go, this company chemically clean the carbs inside and out, so what you see above is how they are returned. In fact this set were very dirty and stained before the process but on return they're good as new. Obviously this isn't quiet as good as S.Smethurst's finish but its darn close and at ?47 in P+P is very good value. (Carb Bodies Only)

The 16hrs invested in this set includes time to runaround taking bits to the platers and then fine detail during rebuild.

Part2: Cylinder head refurbed & Barrels

#32 PostAuthor: DogsbolloxofZ1B » Thu Dec 27, 2007 8:11 pm

Here's the next installment. The cylinder head & barrels have been vapour blasted by RD Cox, the head was reworked by SERDI to include:- new valve guides, light skim, seats re-cut, valves cleaned & refaced to as new spec. The blocks bores re-honed so with new rings will be good as new.

Now onto the engine.

Lookin' good, can't wait to see it finished. Be careful when rebuilding the head, from bitter experience the recut of the valve seats will inevitably mean use of thinner shims, hopefully plenty left to go at.

Z1B Crankcases

#35 PostAuthor: DogsbolloxofZ1B » Sat Jan 12, 2008 5:18 pm

Next installment: Z1B crankcases returned from vapor blasting, thoroughly cleaned to ensure all the grit is removed and every hole had a tap run down it to make sure everything fits together. All I need to do now is fit the internals, then onto the frame..
