Z I'm gonna have to buy some wire. What gauge should I get? Do I have to run wires to both coils?

just use piece of old wire from a extension lead or similar just to get it running just run the wire to the coil that's got the lowest voltage

he has got sufficient voltage on the r/h coil so just a temporary 12 volt lead to the left hand coil should get it running

I will sort out he wireing and voltage to the oils as you have suggested. I also removed the air filter and put my hand over the air in takes one at a time and it sucked on my hand which then got covered in petrol.
I guess that's what it should do if I cover the inlet entirely!

the coil wires ( yellow with red trace ) are crimped together about 2 inches where they exit the main wiring harness. if you pull the one that has no voltage it should break & this will give you a good reference where to cut open the harness

what is the spark like? yellow or blue? remove the caps one by one & hold the ht lead against the engine & turn the engine over gradually moving it away & see how far the spark jumps to earth ( engine ) without breaking down

the spark should jump at least 6mm. leaving the ignition in the on position & not turning the kill switch of for long periods will burn the coil/ coils out

Ok done the spark test and it did jump 6mm and nice and blue. Had the spark plug gap wrong and adjusted. Also checked the spark at the plug and looked good. Put tank on and turned it on, same old same old nuffin!!!!

I'm loosing the will to live now.

So ignition on
Kill switch on
Petrol on
Choke on
Throttle open
Press start
Everything spins and thumps but no life!
So frustrating

Checked timing and checked cam chain at TDC on 1&4

Throttle shut! not open*******************

Which coil and cylinders are the left hand set of points feeding?

Have you tried a drop of fuel in the cylinders as previous posts?

How have you set ignition timing?

Fresh fuel and plugs

If you have compression, spark and fuel/air at the correct time bike should run.

Keep at it it will be something simple!!!

Hi Paul

Ok will keep throttle closed
The left hand coil feeds cylinders 1 & 4
No to fuel in cylinders so could try that
I believe I have the ignition set up ok and checked
Fuel was fresh I guess I could change it
Plugs are new
