engine low speed "jerking"

#1 PostAuthor: RAYZ1 » Tue Jul 09, 2013 10:45 pm

My z1B has develped a bad case of engine jerking at small throttle openings, say 2000rpm on a constant throttle opening, its perfect at highr speed, ie 3000rpm plus or under load. Its a bit like having kangeroo petrol if you know what I mean

before I start on the hunt for the issue - anybody had similar problems ?

Im going to check carb balnce and timing, I dont think the pilots are blocked as it accelerates and pulls well from low speed on 1/4 throttle, I suppose the pilot airway could be blocked.
When the bike was rebuilt, it would run down to 20mph in top and pull constant , that was 3 years ago

I bet its pilots but glad to hear any other suggestions

thanks

Ray

Try a simple elimination process first, like petrol starvation: pipes from tank, spark plugs, ht leads, caps, then move on to carbs?
