Z900 bodywork on a Z1000H ????

#1 PostAuthor: Pigford » Thu Jan 03, 2013 6:38 pm

Does the older Z900/1000 round bodywork fit on a Z1000H frame :?:

And I mean an easy-fit - not after the application of a gas-axe

Im not sure on the answer to your question, but I know the rear frame (spine)tubes hit the bottom of a tank if you try to fit z9 tanks on a z1000j. I know mk2 style tanks and panels can be made to fit z750 frames. I also know z1000j panels will fit Gpz750 uni tracs. I think the earlier of the zed frames should be ok,but the later J's and defo Gpz11 uni tracs need the frames modded.
Im planning on the possibility of mk2 panels onto my gpz7650 uni trac.
Have a look over in the project section on OSP,as Im sure a german chap was fitting older panels to his Gpz?

LOL,probably not a lot of use.

I put z900 tank and tail on a MK2 years ago...only issue is the side panels.

Z1000j frame with badly fitting z1 tank, which wouldnt fit over rear frame rails.

Gpz750 uni trac, from years ago with mock up of z650 panels.

Id be tempted to say anything will fit anything, with a big enough stick. lol.[/img]

Seriously ..tank and tail fited easy. seat even fitted but touched the tail at the pionty bits.

I've got pictures of the bike with just the tail fitted...which now makes me wonder about the tank....but I'm sure I ran it with the tnk on it..

mark,

i'm pretty sure Z1R and Mk2 frames a very similar.

my Z1R has z900 tailpiece, Z1R sidepanels and Mk2 tank so tail/tank should fit not problem.

you'll obviously have to move the sidepanel tabs.

are you sure you want to chop an H frame about like this ?
