Fitted new taper rollers, painted the top yoke and slotted the forks in.
Quickly came to the conclusion that the gold anodised forks look shite so had to do something about it.

Had bought some Sodium hydroxide crystals from Gateros plating to strip the anno from the R1 calipers gold stars so decided to do the same to the forks.
Only fly in the ointment was that i had rebuilt them with new seals etc after i had extended them.
Not wanting to pull them apart and risk damaging the seals just yet i decided i had nowt to lose by having a go at stripping them whilst they are in one piece.
As they say on the telly .. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME

After a bit of experimentation with the concentration of the solution and suitably equipped with goggles and rubber gloves i carefully set about sponging the sodium on the the leg.
After only ten minutes and a wipe with clean water i had this
Very suprised how clean and easy it came off and with no smutting .

Only 90 mins work from start to finish and i had this.
Spot the difference

Quickly perfected the technique and after another 20 mins job done.

Don't mind the gold on the damping adjusters so i'll leave it on.
