Z1 Small Tank Badges

#1 PostAuthor: DaveZ1 » Wed Oct 17, 2012 9:46 am

Does anyone know if it's possible to drill and tap a Z1A/B tank to accept the smaller 73 Z1 tank badges?

Dave
Yes it is with care and you will need a plug tap to form the thread.
For the geniune item72/73 tanks do come up on ebay now and then.
Doremi tanks come drilled for both sizes of badge.

Steve

Thanks Steve, i have seen the Doremi replica tanks with the multi fixing for both which is why I asked if it could be done on an original tank. Z1A and Z1b should be identical to the Z1 tank apart from the badges shouldn't they? ie. Narrower neck, inboard seam and hook for the tank rubber. Did these features change in 76 Z900A4s or was it earlier?
Cheers, Dave.

Dave
The changes did occur for thr Z900 tank, the one with the seam towards the outer lower edge although I am led to believe there are some differences to the later Z1A/Z1b tanks to earlier models and I think this invloves the position of the band hook :?:

Guys,
There is a nice Z1 tank guide on Jeff's website here for you -

http://www.z1enterprises.com/Z1TankGuide.aspx

Far as I know this is all good info. Please advise if you spot any errors.
Good reference pics for you Dave.
