Z1000A1 - What inlet rubbers for VM29mm Smoothbores?

Do I need the standard Z1000A1 rubbers like these:

Nope you need z1000j rubbers as they are larger to take your carbs.

OK, excuse my stupidity, but how do you balance the Smoothbores (I haven't recieved them yet) as the Z1000J rubbers dont have any take-off like the A1 rubbers? The GSXR carbs I'm using have the take-off on the carbs.

If the Mikunis are anything like the Keihins they don't respond well to gauge setting anyway even if you have take offs, from what I've found and subsequently been told. You balance them up on the bench using the wire adjustment method which I think is in the manual anyway.

John, I run these on my bike and use the standard inlet rubbers. They are a perfect fit and balanced them using the vacum take offs. I have been using the for 3 yeas and never had a problem!

I got a set of Keihin CRs they fit the standard rubbers, but when i set them up the usual way on the guages it made the bike run like shit. I spoke to a club member who knows a lot about CRs he told me it was a waste of time on gauges, and using the method which I think is described in the factory Z manual for setting the slides using a fine wire to measure the slide heights all equally would work better. on the CRs it certainly did. Maybe the Mikunis will balance ok on the gauges if people have found them ok.

standard z1 carb rubbers should be perfectly ok as the carbs you are fitting are only 1mm oversize from the standard 28mm

Same here, I ran 29mm SM's with std inlet rubbers and no problems.

I thought the 29's had the same body as the 33's which you use the 1000j rubbers for!

I suppose it makes sense they are smaller as they used them on the smaller bikes for racing !
