Valve grinding

Im going to replace all my valves.When you are grinding them in with past how can you be sure you have them seated right :?:

when lapping in a valve look for an even, continuous unbroken satin grey band approx 1.5mm wide on the valve seat.
It's not too good an idea though to lap new valves to worn seats.
When fitting a new valve you should re-cut the seat also .
They should need little (with fine paste) or no lapping in at all.

I would not try to do this yourself. I would take them to someone who knows what they are doing. DEBBEN performance in ringwood have just done my head.

My Z1000A2 has just had a full engine rebuild, including casings being sent away for polishing at Steve Smethursts, head work - new valves, valve guides, valve seals, setting up adjustable cam sprockets. I can not give you a breakdown for the head work.

Give Ray or Steve Debben a bell, and ask for a quote, helpful guys.

I believe one of the bristol lads has had head work done there recently as well.

I just had valve guides replaced and seats recut, kept old valves - all good, done the lapping myself with fine compound only, took about a minute each, went back to the shop to do a vacuum leak test - got top scores even without oiling the valve stems (to extra seal them), that's in Poland but I guess any workshop in UK would do the service
