gsxr1100 k, l or m carbs.
Hi everone does anyone knpw if any of the gsxr1100 k,l or m carbs would fit my z1000j and if so if there would be any power increase. Cheers Nick.

The spacing is correct - BUT.......... lots of negatives :
The float bowl angle is a bit out.
They're CV type carbs and not easy to tune to suit a different bike.
Throttle cable position/fitting maybe an issue?
If you want more ooooomph from the cabrs - what tuning work has been done to the motor
Extra BHP needs proper engine work & exhaust & valves/head, etc.... Just bolting on bigger carbs is not always the way forward... and CV carbs are not ideal - go for flatslide or smoothbores such as Mikuni RS or VM

And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

carbs for z1000j.
Thanks everyone, I'll probably go for some smoothbores when money allows. I put my keihin 33's on about 15 years ago straight off my heavily tuned gpz1100 and this alone made a difference just on my standard J motor.

All GSXR-variants you mentioned, will use 40mm carbs, they are CV-flatslides and will have a too big body to fit onto the J-inlet rubbers. Furthermore you will loose quite a bit on the low-end and gain not much near the redline.
Get some VM29SS, if you want quick throttle response and low-end grunt or RS34s or 36 if you're more interested in mid to top.
Cheers,
Greg

There's no replacement for displacement!

I have GSXR1100K carbs fitted to my 77 Z1000A1. They work really well but as said the float heights and main jets need tweaking / changing, and you'll need larger inlet rubbers. I've had them on the bike for about 10 years now without any problems. If I remember they were fitted to a spondon (?) framed zed 1000 which featured in Streetfighters magazine, that was the first time I seen them on a zed.
The bike pulls like a train (1075 Wiseco) and the carbs are easy to balance. Use the standard throttle cable, but you'll only need one cable obvioulsy. I also fitted a high flow fuel tap. Hope this helps.
