No more (Z1 Z1B) experts anymore!!!

#1 PostAuthor: KWACKERZ1 » Tue Mar 20, 2012 8:03 pm

I was intrigued by a recent thread about fork leg differences I have just dug out a pair of early style forks but need to identify what they are off, Could anyone help identify which models these are for:

They have 2 in large font and a smaller 5 stamped at the back of the mudgaurd mounting holes and then at the bottom near the spindle clamp one has 3 U L and the other 3 T R.

I assume the R and L are obviously for right and left but do the other numbers help to date the fork legs?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks Keefleaf, not sure what you mean about V bikes ?

But where have all the Z1 Z1B experts gone !

They are normally very quick to jump in and critic the bikes for sale, do you think they are counting their number 7 bolts and have not seen the question?

The Z1, Z1A & Z1B have three types of fork legs "shapes" around those mudguard bolts and they are not necessarily defined to specific year models, however, they have a logical order.

72-started with a bulbous shape well defined where mudguard bolt was fitted. Next around early 73 the bulbous shape was more blended and later the shape was still further blended into the alloy casting.
There is very little difference in the last two shapes.

I think PMC had a good illustration of these three shapes, maybe for clarity, a forum member has a photo they could post.
