But I do need help, the lecky system is pumping out 16v+ ( 14.2 with the lights on ) is it the Rectifier, regulator or both.
Can I fit another item from a different model??????

Geoff, the problem is most likely with the regulator, not controlling the voltage and hence, a battery boil. The voltage should be no more than 14 Volts at 3000rpm across the battery terminals. If you are replacing use a reg/rectifier combined unit, which are readily available.

There are many other replacements you can use. I always try to get a second-hand, ZRX650 unit, some swear by the HondX "Dream" unit.
