can a dodgy ignition switch have an effect on the clean smooth running of all 4 cyl?

YES, any dodgy electrical connection could effect spark.
If there's a bit of surging due to poor connection this can make it play up :!:
Corrosion is a favourite, the positive connections can loosen & corrode badly, usually the hidden ones :roll:
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

check your kill switch as well, the springs rust and the connectors bounce as you go along.

dodgy ignition switch is the problem i have at the moment , imagine the switch as a clock , key in and 6 oclock is on , now its changed, 5 past 6 is on.
but its not effecting the cyl , just cuts out some times
