Gear lever return spring broken?

#1 PostAuthor: Mark Tiller » Sat Jul 30, 2011 9:50 pm

Went out for a spin and the tacho cable broke as i set off....

and on the way home the gear lever stuck down when changing from 5-4...changed back up and it stayed there too, got home Ok and got it back to N by hand.
Any suggestions? is it a hard job to change it?

Easy enough job.
Sprocket cover off.
Sprocket off.
Then remove the cover that holds the seals and there it is.
Pop in a new spring, reassemble and away you go.
Will need a new gasket though if you are unlucky.
Should only take an hour max.

Removed gear lever linkage and swivelled it backwards....
took outer cover and sprocket off (was loose!) then removed inner cover and the spring is fine????...
It was then i noticed the Tarozzi gear pedal was still stuck in position...Doh
The knurled nut had worked loose and caused the lever to bind...
F**K!
Ah well new gasket from Zpower on the way...
