Over the years it?s collected a lot of dust and dirt and even had mice nesting in the airbox
So 1st things 1st it?s off with the tank, side panels and tail piece to give the Z a good clean
Armed with plenty of TFR, wash wax and a power washer ? the cleaning begins!
45 mins later and a few goings over she?s looking clean (ish) at last
After the big clean she?s back in the garage jacked up and off with the wheels as they were in need of tyres. Then I began stripping, replacing, polishing and re-painting bits of the bike, I also sent the paint work off to Dream Machine as it had blistered.
Carbs also came off and where stripped, cleaned and had new pilot jets also had new rear shocks.
Wheels back on, then began some bits of re-wiring of lights etc. Changing oil, plugs and filters.
Then it was off with the rusted 4-1 Marshall and on with the new 4-4 exhaust, new rear mudguard
Had the Z running although lack of tank, notice the petrol mower tank on the floor
Was running very rich and lumpy at 1st but after replacing bits she?s running well
So all in all she?s had new:
Master Cylinder kit
Front brake hoses and pipe
Shoes and pads
Throttle cables
New pilot jets
Tyres
4-4 exhaust
Chrome rear mudguard (short)
Rear shocks
Battery, oil, filters and plugs
Chain and sprockets
Points and condensers
Coils and leads
Dream Machine paint work (will be arriving this week)
