PaulJac, I'm sure I measured the OD as 43 mm (will check that later!).
Anyway, you may find with longer piston, that you have trouble fitting new pads.
Incidently, I purchased a piston from a brake place, it was exactly the same, except it was 3 mm shorter. I figure it would work, however, I may be in trouble when the pads wear. The piston was from the car, a Lexan dual pot caliper (a lot cheaper than the Kawasaki replacement).

PaulJac, the nominal size outside diameter of the Z1 series brake pistons is 43 mm (I checked a few). The replacement piston I purchased, which was about 3 mm shorter, was from a company "Protex" with numbers on box...090P0180 and A11R2H. I was told they were from a model of the up-market Japanese car "Lexus" (not Lexan, as previously stated). There is also a well priced replacement from USA.. Z1 Enterprises.

PaulJac or anyone, there was no mention that the outside diameter of the piston for the Z1B was initially misquoted, or indeed, was correct.
I make it 43 mm, the question talks of a 42mm piston........ I don't mind being wrong! It just needs qualifying for the other innocent readers.
