MDM this is my experience i'll let you judge if i have mis-interpreted the situation.

A few weeks ago was refused sign-on as photograper at RWYB
Was told to go back to the main gate to get a registration and a big green badge.
Didnt bother.

E-mailed SP two weeks ago about wishing to film at MBS and the racing and heard nothing.
Arrived on Saturday, went to the main office at the main gate and asked if i could sign-on or register or had my name been added to the list.

NO no and no.
X and Y are dealing with registrations and X and Y are on holiday.

Go to stands to film and see people in green flourescent jackets with 'Straightliners' printed on the back filming with what looked like professional equipment in the emergency lane in front of me.
After a while they walked up to the far end of the stand where the pallisade fencing starts and kept going.

There is a clearly marked set of double yellow lines painted on the wall in front of them and me with a sign saying ''no press beyond this point''

I believed they were 'Straightliners' photographers because that is what was printed on their jackets.
I believe that they didnt know what they were supposed to be doing because they extended their reach into the 'dead' area.

I believed they were in the wrong because; once spotted they were dragged back by the race director.

If you want to know why that concerned me then type 'Santa Pod accident' into youtube and watch the results when the car bodywork torpedoes into that fence.

On the subject of the MBS; if it was there then i didnt spot it, but as i said my camera was on the fritz so it didnt really matter.

You have to agree that the toilets stink though , dont you? :D

Glad to see you enjoyed it Al, wasn`t the racing even worth watching? I obviously didn`t see alot of it as i was queuing up for 5 hours to do 3 runs! Evil or Very Mad Don`t think i`ll be back next year either, give me Avon Park with a load of old triples blowing up any day. Laughing
As for Alan`s pics, i just tried it again and they work fine, for some reason i didn`t even need to enter the password this time. Confused It`s probably your crappy old PC, you need to upgarde mate to a ZX81, they even have rubber buttons on the keyboard. Mine works a treat.

Andy; the point is i enjoy watching the racing but i went to film the Zeds. And no i wont be drawn on the Hyabusa westfields either! Going back to the loft now for the ZX Spectrum.

Ah jealousy is a wonderful thing! Have you tried typing in the password Silver13? If it works on my shitty old PC which i hardly know how to use, then i don`t know why you knob jockeys can`t figure it out.

Ah, that explains it! The 'Straightliners' flouro jackets are given out by the Straightliners crew to people who have signed on as photographers but who aren't regulars - it's so the crew know that they're supposed to be there and not just regular punters. Those folk who regularly take pics at Straightliners events are known by the crew!
I also experienced the Santa Pod Syndrome - I'd applied for Pod press pass, but had no pass on the gate, no-one knew I was coming, and the media suite was closed all weekend, fortunate that I knew that I could sign on with Straightliners... :D
Oh, and no, I don't think the toilets stink, I think they're quite good, all things considered. Certainly far better than most municipal bogs...

Sorry I missed you Dave, if I had known the show was on I would have parked my Z up there, I saw some GSX1400 and Katanas behind the grandstand but did not catch on the Muscle bike show was there too  It was good to meet up with some of the other Z1OC members, Al was right about the que jumpers and there where long ques / long waits between runs, but overall I thought it was a good weekend, I will be there again next year, but will bring my own biscuits as Pigford let us down, I believe he scoffed them all on the way there
