#00265 calling from California

Hi all - I have been living in Northern California for 7 years but planning to move back to the UK in about a year because we miss mushy peas...

I know Z1OC member ultim8pc from the ZRX owners club and he recommended me to join Z1OC so here goes.

I own Z1 #00265 which was built 9/72 and restored a few years ago by Greg Walker (Greg has 2 V1 bikes plus several very early production bikes) with all genuine used or NOS parts. The early colors (#00100 - #01500) paint was done by Paintworkz in the US, based on original paint bodywork from #00224.

Will definitely be bringing #00265 back with us to the UK. Hopefully the weather suits it.

I include a few pics taken around the small town we live in, which was home to the first big motorcycle rallies in the US, just after WWII, and the film "The Wild One", based on those rallies, was set here in Hollister.

Thanks for the add,

Don

Don,
A warm welcome to you and thanks for posting the pics of your 72 Z1.
It's good to get a new member with a Z1 .

Thanks all for the comments - i was expecting some hazing like on the ZRXOC but very friendly on here so far!

Not sure where we will move back to yet. I am from Blackpool so definitely not there... maybe Oxfordshire or Lincs.

A pic I found is from April 1976: when I was 19 I took out a massive bank loan to buy a new Z900, put some Konis and Dunlop Red Arrows on and went production racing with it. The engine bars definitely limited the lean angle though - I nearly ground through them on one side. I bought the bike in Feb 76 and sold it in Feb 77 for 1100 quid. One careful owner LOL. Could probably get 1100 quid for the rear mudguard now...
