Just joined after recently buying a Z1000 A2 US import. Have had many bikes over the years starting with a H**** ss50 in 1978. Passed test at 17 and went the British route, Aerials, Triumph, Bsa before getting cheesed off with being left behind by mates on Jap bikes.Owned various Japanese bikes including GPZ900R and 1100 during the 80s and 90s.My last 15 years have been spent riding various Hinckley Triumphs and a couple of Ducatis. Came across my Z1000 a few months ago and must say i love it. I think its fairly standard except for the exhaust, a 4 into 1 and Mag wheels. I think its been repainted at some time, its black with gold pinstripes but not original i don't believe. I imagine lots more isn't original, tank and side panel badges? Cam cover is square profile rather than round...i know little about these bikes really. I did always have a soft spot for them though in my early years. Bike rides and runs beautifully but its by no means perfect condition wise, very pretty though.I do use it fairly often for pub runs etc with mates.Anyway I'll look at posting a pic or 2 when I've worked out how.

Z1000A2 was available in two colours Red and green, however the US market got a third option of black with a gold pinstripe (pinstripe was same as red & green model). Alloys were also an option on late A2's so your bike could be a little more original than you think although Square cam could indicate later MKII.

Need to see a photo of the engine to be certain
