Welcome from the peoples free republic of Godalming....... so we have Scott in Portsmouth, Steve Cooke (I think) in portsmouth (has a real UK a4 and is loved and used, (yes your fault I wanted one after seeing it in stafford)

Thanks, it's a RR-P registered on 5th January 1993 and the 13th FireBlade produced that year. It is however more likely that it rolled off the production line in mid-late 1992, as I cannot believe that even H**** built and shipped this bike from Japan to the UK in 5 days.

Yes, it's a great bike but I discovered that riding it for longer than 20 minutes causes major problems with my right wrist which I broke many years ago (motocross), so it has to go.

The RSVR is awesome, but would kill me!

Unlike many of the Sado's on here I don't have a problem with H********, and was all up for a New Fireplace back in the day. However after managing to blag a test ride and being VERY impressed with the performance, the handling and brakes didn't feel right to me.

Also tried the R1 which was a truly awesome piece of kit but just a bit cramped for a Six-Footer. Almost by default I ended up with a 9R C1 which other than the comedy rear shock combined all the good stuff of the other two without their drawbacks.

Ahh, if that the case then it's similar to the Triumph TR and MG community where there is also a 'friendly' rivalry. Must admit though, I did chuckle when the fist time I posted the word H.O.N.D.A it came out as H****.

I had a C1 for about 5 years and it is an excellent piece of kit and Very Fast Indeed. Kawasaki brought it out about 5 years too late as the earlier B models could not compete with the fireblade and are not quite the ticket.
I dropped the front fork height by about 10mm on mine and this seemed to help the handling (a bit) but to be honest it was me riding to my limits rather than the bike's most of the time. Nice big bike you could move around on - not cramped at all. The only other thing was in winter the carbs would stutter a bit (carb icing) but this was cured with an additive made by Fuch's which simply was added in the petrol tank. Some kind of carb heating came with the C2 I believe.

Agree with other comments that it seems crazy we cannot mention another motorcycle manufacturer - on what should be a Motorcycle web site!
Is it because of the rumour they built the first superbike?

I had a 98 R1, it was mental, but a bit of a handful, ended with it in the back of an Astra and a cracked vertabrae for me.

My C1 was a little higher on the bars as standard than the Fireplace and R1 and made a massive difference on longer rides at it took some of the weight from your wrists. Always had a little chuckle at guys on the other two stretching their hands and backs while waiting at traffic lights.

Got my 9R nearly new in 1990 and sold it with 15K miles to a guy round the corner from me. Interestingly he still had the bike until last year when it was written off after a woman pulled out on him. It had nearly 90K on the clock by then.
