Well, I just had to post this for anyone interested in MODDED bikes! :wink:

I had the JMC with the rear wheel set at a forward position for ages, but loved the drag look (aka: Steve Debbens bike). So i decided to get a longer chain ( 630, not the popular 530/525, so there :!: )
Got the new chain and pulled wheel back 80mm! Soopa Doopa! :P
But............. arse end was now an inch or so higher! :cry: What with the short USD's (even with stepped yokes) the steering angle was too steep and caused it to drop & wallow a bit at lower speeds (NOT TIGHT HEADRACES!).
So me only option was to set shox back to compensate! If I dropped forks it would raise bike, defeating main object to achieve low stance!

Well, being an impacient bugger, it did a crap Heath Robinson effort to see whats what!

This was good & bike handled sort of OK. Trouble was, the bottom of the shock, the bit retaining the spring was catching on me quality bracket extension (ally strip).

SO, hunted down some 1/2" ally plate & after an hour or so of drilling, filing & tapping, bodged this up:

All seems tickerty boo now. Just need to save up & have the old brackets cut off & new ones welded on! May wait til end of year to strip it down! :wink:
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

No way I would have any confidence in the shear values of them piddling little bolts. Sorry, don't want to rain on your parade but safety first!

Have to agree there is no way I would risk riding with what looks like 2 6mm bolts holding the shock on. Get it welded mate a good shop would be able to do it without stripping out the swing arm, just the wheel.

Go on you know it makes sense. :D

Eeeeegads! Not the kind of positive response I was after :oops: :cry:
I have used an ally plate at the rear of the shock bolt, to tie it in to the original welded bracket!

You can see the far one through the wheel! I tapped the holes & loctited 2 x 6mm studding & fastened with 6mm nyloc nuts! I seem to remember 6mm m/s studding has a 1/4 ton shear strength. So, 2 of em each side is 1/2 ton, plus the 3mm ally plate, should be plenty!
Anyway, gonna test ride it to ACE cafe (Kwak Sunday) end of March! :wink:
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Did not see the alloy plate behind that should stop any movement stress acting sidewards on the studs.

Keep checking the studs though, don't want to loose a club member. :D

Cheers Padders! I did try to 'lumiweld' it, but such a large lump of ally, took 10 mins heating it and still to cool! Ran out of superglue, so thought bolts would do! :shock: :lol:

the bolt on jobbie is better than the strip :up

You'd be better off leaving the swinger alone and getting shorter rear shocks. The "bracket" you have put on also looks like it may be too far back on the adjuster slot and may deform the slot with use. Is ther any room to move the top mount?

I recall seeing this variation on this shock mounting from the PMC catalogue.
