A bit high at the back
I think I like that a bit better.
I've got the engine on the bench now and not quite shore wote to do for the best, its not run for about seven years, should i just have the head off,
head and barrels, or go the whole hog and totally strip it down

Crazy Col,
I'd whip the head off for starters. You can then de-coke it & the pistons. Remove valves, clean 'em up & re-lap 'em. Fit new seals to the valve stems while you're at it.
With the head off you will be able to get some idea of the condition of the bores....... Then take it from there.

Hi Crazy Col
As a warning

don't get carried away with big carbs on a B1 because,as I found out too

late, the inlet manifolds are longer than the other models and when the carbs go on, great; but when the tank goes on, the tap fouls the top of the carbs, pingel as well. I think I've got round the problem with alot of messing

about, but in hindsight I would have got a different head if I'd known before.

and "de-stick" the rings, personally I'd take it all the way down and rebuild it. At least then you're sure.

You can also use a b1 tank but you have to seal the fuel return and fit a pingel fuel tap...

Think what BGB is on about the fuel tap postion is not as far back on the B2 and J so it will clear the carbs

you do not need to blank the return valve off it is only one way. iain is right i only meant the tap is further forward on the B2 than the B1
