Hi all,
Thought it about time I put something on here about my Gpz1100b1.
I got it about twelve months ago in part payment for a bus I painted and havent had ether the time or mony to do anything about it apart from get afew parts here or there.

A bit ratty I know but thought i'd have a go at cleaning it up to see whot i could do.

got abit carryed away might have to do something about it now?

Nice project,stick in there ,and it will be a cool bike,what do have planned for it,are you changing the colour,the wheels etc,or are you doing a bit of a restoration??? Whatever,bet it'll be a nice one!

Nice one Col,the B1 is a unique looking Z with those big clocks :wink:

Still regret having to to sell mine,but sadly needs must.
Steve a.k.a. Big Green Bus knows plenty about the B1/B2 models if you need any tech help.
Always nice to see 'em in red instead of the usual Lawson green re-spray.

Always thought big zeds should be green (personal tast), so got on with for me the easy job first, repairing and painting the tank ,side panels and tail fairing

Afew dents but not bad

I might change it yet have to see how i feel when its all built up

I thought I'd try and strip the frame the cheap way with wire brushes on the good old angle grinder and die grinder.

Did'nt come out to bad really, just could'nt get into all the nooks and cranys so bit the bulit and had it media blasted.
(the silver by the way was just a Alu zink based primer just to stop it rusting again).

Got the frame back from media blasting and was pleased with how good a job they made for the price I paid.

Two good coats of etch primer and then a coat of black primer later it
it don't look to bad, shame about the stat of the garadge though.

Thought i'd have a play over the last week and got the ZX7R swingarmout that i got off ebay afew months ago out and see if i could get it to fit, i think i proberbly could have given enough time, but see ing that the bearings were buggered it worked out cheaper to get another off a zx6r that was a bit narower .
I know everybody says to have a new spacer made that will take the original spindal but i like to be a bit diferent.
I ground the welds off the bushes that the spindle goes through on the frame each side so you could pull them out then replaced them with ones of the right size for the new swingarm.

Fits like a dream

Do'nt think it looks to bad either.

Not a great deal mate, put a couple of new post on but presed the wrong thing in my hast and started a new page.

Hi every body alas haven't done as much to the old girl as I would
have liked, work comitments, kids and her that should be obayed have kept me bizzy :roll:

I have got hold of a pair of rear showa shocks off ebay for a reasonable price , which I've cleaned up and had the springs powder coated.

same size, just the ticket

Home made spring compreser.
When your on buget as small as mine you have to use wot you have!

I managed to get the engine cleaned if only with TFR and a jet wash, just to get the crud off so I could get it back in to make sure everything lines up.
Everything looks ok so I can strip it down get some shock mounts welded on to the swing arm and finally do some painting
