Paul,
interested in following your progress as I also Have a J. Interested to find out how you approach the fork sliders, Most of the back paint on the front of mine has chipped off but was relucantant to repaint as there are factory labels applied to both sliders which I could see no way of removing without destroying them.
My own project was from barrells up only but I now regret not having gone the whole hog, as with all the tin ware repainted but the frame, fork sliders and engine in their original state it looks, well a bit tatty up close. I had a new exhaust system fabricated by a local shop which is pretty well identical to the original and am very pleased with that. I wanted a system like the original 4 into 2 wich would allow me access to the oil filter etc without removing the exhaust system
Still need to do a little more work

Please keep us up to date with progress. PS if the Green KZ1100 is your congratulations. Green with envy!

no Tim it is not unfortunately
I have just finally sorted my Z1B I think
finger's crossed
we have one great asset over here and his name is Peter Robinson
he is both a friend of Tim and mine and what a handy bloke he is
he rebuilt my Z1B carbs and with spectacular results it seems
and now he is working on John Curran;s carbs
a thorough job is guranteed
Peter is also rebuilding a Z1000 at present as well as owning a very smart GPZ 750
