Money pit 3 - ELR - Finished at last

#1 PostAuthor: Robw » Sat Mar 22, 2008 11:11 am

Hi,I am building an ELR(not very original I know), I have just got my bits back from Aerocoats, they did a excellent job for a very reasonable amount. I am waiting for my yolks to come back from a guy who is making them out of billet for me.
The catch tank was made by a welder at work, for the princely sum of ?20. He has used 6mm plate on the top, so that earles adapters can be fitted. I have used Wemoto for the bearings etc, very good service, even when I ordered the wrong bits. The swinging arm, which is off a ZRX 1100 is off to be vapour blasted next week, once it is back I will decide on whether it will get polished or stay the way it is. The swinging arm pivot was bushed out by a local engineer, so I can use the original bolt. I am rushing to get all the parts back as I won't be able to do much for the next 3 months do to an operation in April. :(

Roy, I am in the process of fitting the swinging arm at the moment. I had a spacer and stepped bush made, but the bush is slightly to thick, which is pushing the arm to the left where it is touching the frame. So, I will have to get this machined, so all the clearances are equal. I will post some pics of it when it is done.

Sounds great!
When I am starting on my ELR that swing you are using is one of my options, so I am looking forward to see it bolted on. :P

Hi, I thought it was time for an update, as you can see the swinging arm has been fitted, only a little bit of tweeking was required to get the clearance. I am saving up for the rear shocks and hoping the exchange rate stays as it is, as they will have to come from Works Performance as I want the longer shocks.
The upper mount on the shocks will have to have bushes made, so that they sit parallel to the swinging arm mounting brackets.
Just waiting for the yolks to be made then I can put the front end together.
Also got a nice Kerker from Mawonline in America, good service, although mine was dented, so Kerker are making a new tailpipe, which I should get in a couple of weeks, cost including all taxes etc £320.
Cheers Rob
