I've rode the bike for the last couple of weeks to see what does and doesn't work, gearbox is poor on the down shift and difficult to engage neutral from 1st, Duane (DDZ900) reckons there's a fair bit of play in the linkage so hopefully that is all, engine wise it pulls well and revs cleanly but the top end is tappety so a head re build will be on the cards, I'll let my mate Rob Fisher tackle that plus fitting a new timing chain.
I'll check the bores etc when it's apart and make a decision on the rings etc then.
Front forks are pitted and will need redone, new rear shocks, possibly ZRX1200 will be fitted, exhaust will be binned and a Kerker is on the shopping list.
I have a short rear mudguard but would like a full length one, at the right money, what's the repro ones like ?
Bodywork will be getting redone in original colour scheme.
A new seat will be needed or recover the original.
Anyway, after a final ride out last night it was spanner time this morning with an assortment of labels, bags and boxes.
Hoping to get the frame powder coated first , but don't want to lose the frame number under the coating, and start adding bits as they are cleaned, plated or powdered.
I've restored quite a few classic cars to concours over the last 20 years and hope I can turn out my bike to the same standard, time will tell.
Cheers, Paul

And a short while later
