Picked this up today

The basis, for my Z650 project, came with lots of spares some of which will be used, modified or sold on, already started fitting the back end in, now on the look out for a wiring diagram, to help get the new loom connected up and hopefully I can bring it to life again

Finally indeed, only wanted one for about 5 years, the plan goes, zx6r a1p front end, gpz400r swing arm with gsxr750 monoshock and sv650 rear wheel, then with a gpz1100 1170cc and painted in b1 emerald green

So been fairly busy with work and listing a whole load of stuff on Ebay the last couple of days but have fitted the back end and decided on the rear ride height, which has allowed me to roughly mock up the top shock mount and the bottom linkage mounting point.

Then ordered some odd sized tapered head race bearing to fit the front end in. Its a complete Zx6r front end but already has a modified stem from when I had it fitted to my gpz400r. First couple of pictures the bike is too low at the front but the last one I lifted the bike at the front by dropping the forks through the depth of the top yoke, around 15mm. so am looking to get a stepped top yoke made

Just taken the engine out and am now ready to start welding up the rear shock mounts

Nearly finished the shock mounts, just going to brace the top mount up then clean it and paint it. Allows me to use the original battery box as well which is nice and gives me a full range of adjustment to match the front end.

Also sent off the top yoke as a pattern to phsycleworkz today so they can make me one with a step in, rang around a few company's and they were by far the cheapest and had the shortest turn around time so will report back about them when I get the finished yoke but for now here's a couple of snaps of the back end. My welding isn't the tidiest but its nice and strong and has held up to a range of hammering and jumping in different directions.... Always the best way to test crucial frame mods.... :shrug

Been sourcing parts recently, got an 1100 UT engine lined up for the next couple of week, set of dyna coils on the way and my Keihin FCR35's should be here by the middle of the week, got some rear sets from svracing.com, originally made for a Suzuki sv650 but I liked how simple and clean they looked, very nice quality and got them mounted up in a comfortable position, super duper light weight aswell.

Cut off the rear pillion food rest mounts and tidied and painted the back of the frame.
I've got a couple of questions regarding fitting the 1100 UT engine, first what reg/rec unit will I need to use, gpz1100 to work with the alternator or z650 to fit the loom?
And secondly do I have to remove the standard z650 lower front engine mounts?
Oh and thirdly... will a z1000j mechanical advance unit fit the gpz1100 engine?
