Z1-B arrives in Aylesbury to cheering crowds

#1 PostAuthor: steve452 » Sun Jun 08, 2014 10:32 pm

Well my Mum cheered to see the back of it.

The whole bike (in bits) has now arrived at my Aylesbury domicile and I shall be commencing fiddlin' abaht wiv it next weekend.

I would post some pictures if I could work out how to get them into a post! Anyone advise?

Check out the above link for posting pics, it's a bit cumbersome but you get used to it, look forward to seeing the beast :D

Here goes;

May 1975 Z1-B complete except for pipes...

Image

Bloody hell it worked! (The black bags and top boxes are, of course, an important part of my Z1-B Component Resource And Product (CRAP) Storage Hierarchy and Integral Tele-remote (SHIT) retrieval system [patents pending])

...Pipes (unfortunately due to a tragic accident in the early 80's (full story on receipt of a SAE and 10/- Postal Order) I had to get a '76 pattern set, but they have been modified by Paul Scanlon to breathe and sound like Z1 pipes...
Image

Now where did I put that cam cover, head & cams?..
Image

...and this week on Spot the Part the Star Prize is...
Image

...does my bum look big in this bottom end?
Image

...and just to prove I still have the front wheel middly bits...
Image

...and after Anthea gives us a twirl...
Image

The front hubs are attached to an Italian Melber alloy wheel (I have front and rear wheels) which I bought from Daytona Kawasaki in Ruislip, Middx in 1978. They were on a half-price offer if I recall and cost me £125 the pair (a bleedin' fortune then). I shall offer them up in the "For sale" forum when I've extracted all the Zeddy bits.

Hope that satifies your desire for pics and thanks to all those who spent time and effort to guide me towards Photobucket. Without doubt one of the slowest and most irritating pieces of bloatware I've used in the past 40 years of playing with computers (yes, I go back to teletyping into remote mainframes!). It must have been written by Billy Gates himself.

Toodlepip, and watch this space for more pics after I've got the superglue out and randomly stuck stuff together.

Those Melber wheels are worth a fortune to a potential buyer Steve, especially in that condition!!

Great thread, keep the pics and updates coming :)

Someone on the forum sold a well worn out pair on eBay, or similar wheel pattern, maybe someone will confirm if they were Melber or not,
the edges of the rims had gauges in them, sold for around £800.

"Anthea give us a twirl " you are no youngster are you, I read about that quote in books.

Looking good, you will be busy for a while.
"Be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others; even the dull and ignorant. They, too, have their story."
