40th Birthday Present

The Z1A is 40 this year so I thought I would give it a bit of a sort out as it's 12 years since I last did any major work on it.
I got a double disc conversion ready to fit and have been thinking of buying a set of pipes but thought I should give the engine a good looking at before splashing out a grand. Also, the paint was wrong so I'm sorting that too.
Started with a compression test, - all over the place so off with it's head for a top end job. It's on a 0.5mm rebore, pistons and bores in great condition, no wear at all so a set of rings and all will be ok there. Camchain is like new, the front slipper guide was broken so I'll replace all the rollers etc while its apart. Got one of those APE manual Camchain adjusters to fit too.
The head is in good nick, had head and barrels soda blasted, valve guides are good so have fitted new valves, guide seals and springs. While it's apart I decided to take the tank, panels and tail up to Hutchy for a respray.
I bought an ultrasonic cleaner for the carbs so they will also be serviced and shiny when it goes back together. Was still thinking about the pipes so guess what............. They're in store ready to fit...
All I have to do is put it back together....
