Got this for me and the son to do up together  he does research on the xbox and keeps guard at his bedroom window watching for rain and ghosts so me and my abopted son stevew are working on the bike. it is a z650 c3 probably paid too much, but sold the front wheel for 400 quid so made it a good buy in the end.

Good luck with the rebuild.
I love the Z650 model.
Looks like yours will be a non standard one from the frame mods.
There's a couple of Z650 rebuilds on my website if you wanna take a look.

"keeps guard at his bedroom window watching for rain and ghosts"

I laughed my balls off at that!!!

Looks like a right good project.

When I see stuff like that I get REAL INSPIRATION to get my shit in order.
Then when I get back home I feel depressed again!!

Keep the pics coming.

frame and wheels back from powder coating, had head bearings ready to fit but they are the wrong size (that is the last time I buy a bearing set off ebay for £7 ) started to clean and polish the swingarm, stripped the motor, fitting a new cam chain, checked the primary chain, but was well in spec (surprised to fine it is the same part number as the 750 zephyr) Pistons - 1/2 water marks, but not bad 3/4 mint. Carb's back together (no bits left kieth  ).
Will put the backend in in the morning.

Got the frame off the deck back end, but waiting for sprockets. looked at the wiring with dread, but was informed to stick it in the parts washer then soapy water, blow off and spray with WD40 and "bugger me with a fish fork" it worked a treat as I can now tell the colour of the wires, Polished the swingarm as much as I could be bothered, still no head bearings yet, but dropped the front end in to get the front mudguard position. the motor to follow soon.
