Here's the starting point

Frame - rear section shortened, seat and suspension mounts repositioned to accommodate wider swinging arm and shorter seat. Tail piece mounts repositioned. Powder coated in black. Seat pan shortened and reshaped to fit frame with new mounting points all aligned.

Swinger - ZRX 1200 with modified shock mounts aligned with frame, powdercoated in dark grey to make it stand out from the rest of the chassis.

Bodywork - custom painted in Kawasaki wildfire orange pearl, Z1b pattern with black/red custom striping (fishnet black airbrushed with fade in over metallic red). Very nice and expensive! Sidepanels have No.7 logo as the whole project was themed as No.7 as a bit of a piss-take! Tank fitted with flush fit filler cap, hole reworked and welded to suit, pressure tested.

Front end - USD 2003 Z1000 complete. Forks extended and anodised black.

Yokes - custom made for forks, stepped alloy, new stem, anodised black.

Wheels, Z1000, 6" rear newly powder coated in satin black.

That's it for now, more pics the weekend I hope or over christmas if not

Cheers

PJ the paint was done by Ace at Ace of Sprays in Bristol.

http://aceofsprays.co.uk/

I had quite a definite idea about the finished look based very loosely on the Z1b style. I originally wanted a burnt orange metallic finish on the main sections but in the end chose the wildfire orange pearl as it allowed the stripes to stand out more. There was a lot of work involved, building it up layer by layer finally finishing it off with some subtle air-brush misting on the edges. Ace didn't like the idea of fading the lower stripe as he likes clean edges but I wanted it that way and I think it looks fine and works really well on the tailpiece.

The no.7 concept was, as you have mentioned, a light hearted piss take as the only thing on the bike with a no.7 on it was the slightly cartoony graphic on the side panels!

The overall look was planned to be short, squat and muscular whilst retaining the overall lines of the classic Zed.

Well it's over to you now PJ, it's your baby, I can't wait to see it built up, thanks for taking it on, I'd love to see it finished.
