Gpz1100 unitrak rebuild

An excellent summer of riding my recently finished Gpz1100B2 has inspired me to dust the cobwebs off my 1100 Unitrak and get it back on the road
I have owned it for a few years, it is a US import with low miles and has the look of an un-messed with bike. It came to me still with its standard pipes and un-cut rear mudguard which I removed and sold to help finance the B2 rebuild.
The paint work is not great, the suspension is shot and I nicked a load of bits off it to get the B2 running. On the plus side the engine is good, I reground the valves, did the stem seals and shimmed it and it goes very well indeed.
The injection was playing up and I ran it on carbs which are now on the B2 so I need some more.
The bike is now stripped, most bits are in my lock up, the frame is being powdercoated and some bits are now in the shed cleaned and ready for painting. Next job is to strip all the suspension down and see what I have to spend money on.
In the meantime it has my C70 to keep it company.

Bloody hell, these Uni-trak projects are like buses. None for ages, then we get two together.

Finally a bit of progress
The suspension as I suspected was in a dreadful state, the fork seals were stuck in the legs due to corrosion - there was not a drop of oil in them and when I did finally manage to separate them it became clear the lack of oil had worn out the bushes and fork legs. The rear shock was a mess and the linkages were completely seized. The grinder came out and I chopped the main link pin at either end which enabled pulling the rest apart. I ended up needing all new bearings and new bearing sleeves which i got made locally in stainless for not a lot, the link pin was an ebay find, new grease seals are available from Kawasaki.
The frame came back from Griff's in Bristol and it looks fantastic, all the threads and bearing surfaces had been well masked so no powder coating to scrape off. I reunited frame, swing arm and linkage today.
I found a decent set of front forks on ebay which are stripped ready for seals and started to refurb the anti dive units. The gpz900 club has got repair kits made up which fit the 750/1100 unitrak as well so I chose all the best bits from 4 units and made 2 good ones. They are a complex bit of kit, but with new seals and internal springs should work as intended.
Next jobs are to fit new bearings throughout and get a new rear shock.

Good start Pluto, looking forward to seeing the rest coming back together.

Bit more progress, forks back together and installed. Managed to get a NOS rear shock for reasonable money - considerably cheaper than a new Hagon, time will tell if its any good. Started on the bodywork, underneath the brown and black paint there appears to be a very good condition silver A2. I am now tempted to spray it standard silver with the red repro graphics.

Pluto,
Hope this doesn't offend the moderators..
I read in your first post that you were after some more carbs for it. I'm converting my Unitrak back to DFI, pm me if you're still looking for some carbs.
Gary.
