OK, time to spill the beans!



I've had this on my bench for a few weeks & managed to machine some spacers to fit a GSXR600 SRAD swinger & centre the rear wheel (ZX7R).



I considered calling it 'Project leftovers' because essentially that's what I had planned it to be, using as many parts as I had lying around.

The bike came to me early in 2012 & looked like this......



I sold all the running gear to another member & was left with this......



Which nearly went to Piggy last year, as I had been squeezed into a 'financial' corner. Fortunately for me Piggy was too slow to get his wallet open & I found a way out of the hole. Piggy took it well.

It was always gonna run USD radial forks, I had been looking at Ohlins (Aprillia Mille) but at around a grand a shot + calipers etc, I decided to get more realistic.......... An immaculate set of Suzuki GSXR 600 K6/7 forks have been sourced & will be lengthened to suit. Calipers, yokes & various spindles have also been sourced & hopefully I'll have my hands on a set of Harris rearsets tomorrow.

Bike will be monoshocked, & thats where I am now, sorting out shock & linkage mounts.

I'll post some more pics as & when they happen.

Seat pulled up, drink and popcorn ready lets get this project rolling Steve.

Cannot wait to see how she turns out.

Any ideas yet on paint schemes.

I think you did right to lose the running gear - it didn't look good. Whats left look ace....... keep up the good work lad

Managed to spend a little time on this over the weekend.....

Fabricated & fitted a lower suspension mount.





Top mount is still in the 'design' stage, which means I keep looking at it and trying to work out which will be the best way forward.

I do have a few options, but the remote reservoir on the top of my £6.50 shock is complicating things,

The Suzuki swinger, adjuster blocks & caliper hanger are all designed for a 28mm spindle. My ZX7R wheel & sprocket carrier are designed for a 25mm spindle. In the past I've changed all the bearings to suit the 28mm spindle, but that ain't the cheap option.

This time I've used the 28mm spindle to make a couple of sleeves that fit inside the larger 28mm Suzuki stuff.

like you say, it's all on a budget of 'leftovers' etc.
which will be a great sense of fun and achievement

To answer a couple of questions;

Paint scheme could possibly be based on a Z1 style, but using 'modern' colours, not sure which though, as the best one's have already been done. But that's a long way off, there's every chance things may 'evolve'.

The motor is another area where I have absolutely no idea which direction I'm gonna go in. A lot will depend on what I find when I take the head off of the one already in the frame. Options include having the cases machined & fitting a Uni-trak crank & hy-vo cam chain, fitting a whole uni-trak bottom end or just tidying up what's there....... for now.

Got my hand's on a set of reasonably priced GSXR yokes the other day, hopefully I'll find some time today to nip in and see Nick at Griff's & have the stem pushed out. Ultimately I'd like to have billet yokes made, with a bit more offset than the Suzuki ones, but we'll have to wait and see.

Think if i was at this stage i'd consider some form of adjustment on the top shock mount along these lines - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-GSXR-S ... 4173bd2d45 or have something made to suit - just bouncing ideas around.

Been quite busy with work & life in general over the last couple of months, so not managed to achieve too much with this, but the GSXR yokes turned out to be no good, so I ordered a set with a 'proper' offset from Roy's Billet Bike Bits. They arrived today.
