The beginings of the period Z1 turbo. Kosman swing arm. Tackling the frame next weekend with the pipe bender, notcher and welder.
Here is where we are at


Trying to squeeze 6" wheel into the poor old chassis. Most have said its impossible but here is the Buzzard working at it with me!

Your swing arm look good I am after one of those.
I picked up a extnded one but its the fixed lockup strut type and I fancy a proper pivotting one.

Will it be done for this year or next years season?

Unfortunately none of the outrigger type arms are designed to run on bearings so most are lock up anyway.
Buzzard is tooling up to make us some that run on tapered rollers and can be used with shocks.
If you sweet talk him you never know he may make a few extra!
Also forgot to mention, she is going to be road legal and will be up. Box Hill this Summer!

I'd like to make mine a jackshaft 2 chain job, with dog-legged out swingarm if you know an engineer / fabricator interested? ... won't be required until around about this time next year though

Peter Thanks he dropped me a pm and I have replied, so that may be an option, like Jay mine wont be happening this summer but for next year so I have time to get the bits ready.

Probably been 30 years since I've seen Buzzard...gray hair eh? but then so have I.

Looking good, keep up with the posts.

Spent most of bank hol at the lathe and mill, got the ZX12 6" wheel to fit in frame/s-arm by moving sprocket carrier further into the wheel to get the chain run sorted, got 10mm clearance between wheel rim and side of chain. Just got to make the bearing support for the 5/8th offset sprocket surport, going to try in fit it behind clutch cover. Peterf will post pics later, I ain't that clever (sort out website to make it easier to post pics from your phone) Buzzard.

Interesting you should say this! I'm doing kinda the same thing & have about 14mm clearance, with sideways movement i'm a bit concerned that the chain might contact the tyre edge, it's a 6 inch rim on a Z650 but i was going to fit a 180 tyre to spread the contact patch area for more grip, a 190 option would be nice but would obviously make the gap less

6" rim won't fit unless it's off center or you have a wider frame and a 3/4+ offset front sprocket.

It's fitting into my bike ok Rob & the chain lines up. Wheel centred like you said on OSP, 15mm offset front sprocket, engine moved 5mm to the left (as you're sitting on the bike) & 7mm off the sprocket carrier


apologies for the off topic goings on!!

6" wheel centrally fitted in frame/ swinging arm, didn't need to offset wheel or widen frame or move engine, but using 5/8" offset sprocket and still got 10mm chain to rim clearence and that was with a 630 chain. Buzzard.
