Rescued from a friend!!

#1 PostAuthor: KWACKERZ1 » Mon Nov 12, 2012 11:19 am

My old neighbor had this tucked in the back of his garage since 1993 unused, a chance meeting in the pub led me to going round to have a look yesterday!

Guess what happened, the wife was very amused :?? :??

Not sure what to do with it yet, currently thinking just get it up and running as is with a bit of TLC, sort out the paintwork, maybe a different swing arm and lose the rear mudgaurd.

Something not right about the rear end I assume its a z900 Tail piece as it kicks up at the rear edge!

What do you think?

The wife would appreciate that!!

She is ok with it really

It was'nt a steal though had to pay him reasonable money for it, but it should clean up ok.

It needs a paint job and some of the chrome is gone,

Front mudgaurd is gone,
some marks on the forks,
wheels cleaned up well,
The Harris is pleasantly very good, (better than my roadbike) and comes with just the amount of New rust they all came with

Grabrail has a scrap on it and it catches the seat.

The frame is very good so does not need anything, so looking forward to getting it up an running.

Next job, oil change clean the carbs and fit a battery for fire up!

At the moment I am thinking, get it up and running and on the road as a runaround as I hate not riding through the winter months, and then perhaps do a full rebuild in the summertime.

First it needs a f'in good clean up, but could not resist it yesterday I oiled the bores put a spare set of carbs on changed the oil and voila seven kicks and

Even ticked over which is not to bad with carbs off the shelf and no filters.

Generally though very grubby,

Ollie thanks for the confirmation on the tailpiece, I suspected it was.

I will fit a 1000 tailpiece, it needs a paint job anyway.

Next jobs to finish a cleanup and sort the brakes.
