This is going to take some time, but when I get the shiny bits going together I will wish I had started withthe muck and bullets, so here goes...

My name is Mark, some of you know me through this site already, and some of you will know me from around Reading, but won't have put a face to a name.

I bought a Z1100R (supposedly) but found many parts not as should be and in a real state.

In my hunt for the right and right condition parts I have ended up with 2 bikes. one will be as standard as I can get it, without bolt counting, the other will be lightly modded.

Never ceases to amaze me how a bike explodes when you dismantle it...

2 frames will be off to powder coating in Windsor shortly..

Need to work out how to paint those..

I was agonising over wheels for the modified one, SteveW, top bloke came up with the solution, thanks Steve, these 750 Zephyr forks and front wheel will give it just enough modernity, I think

I'm going to try to fit a Z1100R mudguard though.
The back end came too.

But I might use this Metmachex once I repair the hole, off to see me old mate Roger Clarke again..

Before I start the assembly I will need two benches so this will have to find a home in the garage up at the house..

Engine 1



Engine 2, from a donor fire damaged Unitrak, hidden under bicyces and a spare Z1000J frame



Both will be stripped, checked cleaned and painted.

That's your Winter sorted then

If it doesn't at least take 2.5 times the space when taken apart, there must be something missing!

Interesting project (s) you have there keep it coming . As an ex 1100R
owner anything like this always grabs my attention and 2 x 1100r´s that just greedy !!
Anyway I have to ask , is one of them C 470 DFJ ? Oh well I will carry on dreaming and continue to modify my B2 so it looks like one anyway.
I am not completely sure but I reckon your swing arm is a JMC with
Metmachex stickers on it.

Richard, no not C470DFJ I'm afraid, and I recon you're right about the swingarm being JMC, it came on the original 1100R.

2 is greedy, but I don't have to decide on standard or modified - I can do both :-)

OK, so I built the workshop extension, bought another Harley - Joined the Grubby (MTC) shovelhead gang, gives me something to talk to him about on our regular Thursday night beers, brought my little girl up to school age, grew the business, lost some hair, had a few rows with the wife - you know the drill, but now at last I really am going to start on these 1100R's.

So first question, I remember someone had started producing replica full length rear mudguards but I can't remember who, does anyone know?

Having a "few rows with the wife" is OK.
